Costa Adeje

Tenerife's premier resort on the sunny south coast, with golden beaches, five-star hotels and the famous Siam Park water park.

Costa Adeje sits on the southwest coast of Tenerife and is the island's most popular and polished resort destination. It has some of the best beaches on the island, a long seafront promenade and a concentration of luxury hotels. The weather here is reliably sunny and warm all year round, which has made it one of Europe's most visited resort destinations.

What [Destination] is known for

Costa Adeje is best known for Playa del Duque, the most glamorous beach on Tenerife, a stretch of golden sand backed by five-star hotels, designer boutiques and seafront restaurants. A long promenade connects it to the neighbouring resort of Playa de las Américas, passing the busy Playa de Fañabé and Puerto Colón marina along the way. Just inland, Siam Park is one of the most celebrated water parks in the world, with a Thai-inspired design and an enormous wave pool. The nearby Aqualand is another popular family option. From Puerto Colón marina, boat trips set out for whale and dolphin watching along the coast, which is part of the Teno-Rasca marine sanctuary. Above the resort, the Barranco del Infierno, or Hell's Ravine, is a protected natural gorge reached on foot from the old town of Adeje. The trail passes ancient rock walls, endemic plants and a waterfall, with access limited to 300 visitors a day. The old town of Adeje itself, with the 16th-century church of Santa Úrsula, sits a short drive inland and shows a different, quieter side of the area.

Things to do in [Destination]

Spend time on Playa del Duque for the most upmarket beach experience on the island. Take a whale watching boat trip from Puerto Colón marina, which sits in the middle of one of Spain's best cetacean zones. Book Siam Park for a full day if you are travelling with children or just want something spectacular. Hike the Barranco del Infierno in the morning before the heat builds — book your entry permit in advance as numbers are strictly limited.

Getting to [Destination] and around

Costa Adeje is on the southwest coast of Tenerife, about 20 minutes from Tenerife South Airport (TFS) by car or taxi. Regular buses link it to Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and the rest of the island. The resort is large, so taxis or the local bus are useful for getting between the beach areas.

Travel tips for visiting [Destination]

Book entry to the Barranco del Infierno well in advance, as the daily limit of 300 visitors fills up quickly. Playa del Duque is the most upmarket beach, at the western end of the resort, away from the liveliest crowds. For whale watching, choose an operator with Barco Azul certification for ethical, eco-friendly tours. Siam Park gets very busy in peak season, so booking ahead saves time at the gate. Costa Adeje connects by promenade directly to Playa de las Américas, making both easy to explore on foot.
