Today In Ibiza: There's A Buzz In San Antonio Bay
San Antonio Bay is buzzing as workers return to a warmer-than-usual Ibiza in April. With temperatures hitting 20°C, the island's beach sports scene is already in full swing.

There’s a distinct, fresh energy moving through San Antonio right now. It’s the period where the island begins to transition, as workers return to the Bay and the shuttered storefronts start to come back to life. While we usually expect the mercury to start climbing closer to May, this year has seen an early lift in temperature.
On the 3rd of April, the Bay was sitting at a very comfortable 20°C. It’s the kind of weather that draws people back outside—warm enough for the beach, but with that crisp spring clarity that makes being active much more enjoyable. There’s a real sense of preparation in the air as the island gets ready for the months ahead, and for those on the ground now, the early Ibiza warmth is a welcome bonus.
Volleyball on Playa de Sant Antoni
The courts at Playa de Sant Antoni have been busy throughout the day. While beach volleyball is a year-round fixture here, the recent climb in temperature has brought a fresh crowd down to the sand. There is a notably strong presence from the local Paraguayan community, who meet here weekly and bring a high level of skill to the courts - a testament to the sport's deep cultural roots in Paraguay. It’s a straightforward, welcoming atmosphere that keeps the games going well into the evening.
Calisthenics at the San Antonio Waterfront
The calisthenics park on the promenade is busy all day. It’s a free, outdoor space that’s popular with locals, workers, and tourists. There’s a friendly, approachable vibe at the bars, with a mixed crowd of men and women training together right by the water. It’s a great spot to catch the warm April sun and enjoy the views while getting a workout in.
Jiu-Jitsu Training at Es Pouet Beach
Over at Es Pouet beach, a small group gathered on the sand for an informal Jiu-Jitsu training session. These were final drills ahead of a competition taking place here this coming Sunday, the 12th. The training was held right outside Basecamp, a gym that’s only been open for one season and already stands out for having some of the newest equipment in San Antonio Bay. The quiet shoreline at Es Pouet makes for a great training environment, especially with the warm April temperatures currently hitting the island.
