La Savina

Formentera's only port and gateway, with a marina, a lagoon and salt flats, and some of the island's best sunsets and seafood.

La Savina is the only port on Formentera and the gateway to the island. Ferries from Ibiza arrive at its marina, which is lined with boats, cafes and rental shops. Just behind it lie a calm lagoon and the island's salt flats. It has no beach of its own, but it makes a relaxed first and last stop, famous for its sunsets.

What [Destination] is known for

La Savina is best known as the way into Formentera. Its marina mixes fishing boats with smart yachts, and rental shops here set you up with a bike, scooter or car. Right beside the port is the Estany des Peix, a shallow lagoon good for kayaking and birdwatching, with flamingos in spring and autumn. Beyond it stretch the salt flats of the Ses Salines Natural Park. The port is also the start of cycle routes to the island's famous beaches. In recent years it has gained a name for good food too.
