Portinatx is best known for its calm, family-friendly beaches. Three sandy coves sit around the bay: S'Arenal Gros, the largest, with watersports and sunbeds; the quieter S'Arenal Petit; and the small original cove of Es Port, lined with old fishing huts. The clear, shallow water is good for swimming and snorkelling. Above the cliffs nearby stands the Far des Moscarter, the tallest lighthouse in the Balearic Islands, reached by a short coastal walk. The resort sits on Ibiza's wild northern coast, with pine forests and quiet coves all around.

Spend your days on the sandy coves, swimming and snorkelling in the clear, shallow water. Try a boat trip, a kayak or a pedalo from the main beach. The best walk is the coastal path to the Far des Moscarter lighthouse, which is lovely at sunset. There are also boat trips to quieter coves nearby. In the evening, the village keeps a calm, low-key feel, with seafront restaurants rather than big clubs.

June and September bring warm, calm seas with fewer people than the July and August peak, when the coves and beaches are busiest. The bay is popular with families, so mornings stay quieter even in summer. Many places close over winter, favouring a late spring or early autumn visit.
Getting to Portinatx and around
Portinatx is on the northern tip of Ibiza, about 30km from Ibiza Town and the airport (IBZ), and roughly 40 minutes by car. The final stretch of road is winding. Buses run in summer but are limited, so a car or scooter is the easiest way to get here and around.
